Symbolic Self-Portraits!

Some fantastic examples of self-portraiture by my 4th years: they each had to create a piece that said something about their personalities and interests.

LCA Hats - completed!

Here are some of the LCA hats in their completed stage - as you can see they are all really unusual and unique. A range of materials have been used to give them their final decorations, such as paint, buttons, ribbons, feathers, fabric and glitter. They've turned out brilliantly!

Art Club!

Art Club is back! I started it up at the beginning of this year: it runs on a Thursday after school and gives students a chance to work in the art room and use the materials. At the moment there are students making masks, working on their own paintings, designing souvenir boxes, perfecting Junior Cert Projects and making Portfolios.
As you can see from the pictures, everyone's really busy creating some lovely and unique work!

LCA Hat Project

The LCA hats are turning out really well, and I'll upload images of the finished pieces soon.

Ghoulish Face Painting

Here are the results of TY's fantastic face-painting exercise! Brilliant results and really really spooky, which is exactly what I was hoping for. No bunny rabbits or kittens here - it's horror all the way! Congrats to those who had the nerve to participate, and then to attend the table quiz after.

Happy Hallowe'en!

So here we have some brilliant Halloween decorations done for the school by my LCA's, 4th and 1st years. Some really great work done over the week before mid-term!

3D...

This is the beginning of a 3d project that some of the 4th years are doing, and I have to say I can't wait to see the finished result! Each tier of the sculpture represents a different artist's style: Van Gogh, Mondrian and Picasso respectively. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece!

Lino Printing...

Ok, it's been a while since I've uploaded any work - I apologise! I will start taking photos of pupils' progress again, but in the mean time, here are some examples of my fifth years' lino prints - pretty impressive work!

If these prints were done in the actual Leaving Cert exam, they would have 5 hours to complete them, from start to finish, as well as completing a Prep sheet to support their designs. That's a lot of work in 5 hours, but it's doable and as you can see, the results are striking!
