Framing your Work

I just want to add one more piece for today - this is an example of how Tesco frames (or cheap frames from anywhere really) can be used to make a great present for someone. I mentioned making your own window-mount in a previous post, and framing your own work. It's a much cheaper solution to getting something professionally framed. Have a look at the end result (bearing in mind my photographic skills do leave something to be desired!)...

This is SO easy to do though. The frame costs very little, and I just replaced the inner mount with strong strong mounting board in a colour that suited where the picture was to be hung. (The original mount was only made of poor quality white paper, so it really makes a difference to replace it.)
Mounting board is very very strong card. You generally need to use a scalpel to cut it, but it's very durable and hard-wearing, and made for presenting work to a high standard. You can buy it in places like Cork Art Supplies, Vibes & Scribes, Art & Hobby Shop and larger Eason's Stores.
So next time it's a family-member's birthday, think about making your own picture and framing it for them! Nothing beats a hand-made gift.

Progress from Last Year

I just want to upload 2 more images from my Junior Cert class - these are done by the same student, and just prove how a little work can go a long way - look at the wonderful improvement that has been made since last May!

Brilliant work, and demonstrates how if you spend a bit of time on something you can really achieve fantastic results.

Junior Cert Still Life

Making great progress with Still Life since starting back at school. I'm really proud of everybody's achievements so far this year - so keep up the good work!

These images have been done in either pastel or colouring pencil, and as you can see the students have paid great attention to tone and shading.
