Winter Penguins

We're doing a really exciting Winter project at the moment, where we're creating penguins and other animals from newspaper, masking tape, paper maché and paint! Here is a sample of some of the fabulous character sketches my first year students created before they began making their 3d versions:

Below are a couple of pictures of my own penguin as it's being constructed; more pictures to follow as we continue the project!

2nd Year Masks and Prep Sheets

My 2nd years recently completed a mask Project. They made their prep sheet first, and I have to say some of them would put Junior Cert prep sheets to shame! They then created their masks from plaster and painted and decorated them. Here are some really nice examples of what was created:

Life Drawing

Well my third years have a busy year ahead of them with the Junior Cert Project, but before we got the titles we were experimenting with life drawing in different media: and I think you'll all agree the results were fantastic! Lets hope our Projects will be equally inspirational!
You can see them photographed beside some really wonderful 2nd Year Oil Pastel images.

Halloween Lino Printing

I'm way overdue posting so I thought I'd begin by adding something seasonal: the new Halloween lino prints my current first years have been making. As you can see, they've been doing lovely prints and then transforming them into some pretty impressive cards! I'm still waiting on a few new designs but this is what's been made so far: I'm very proud!

6th Year Trip to Castletown House

Today was my 6th year art classe's last school trip ever!! Very sad to see such a creative and enthusiastic group leaving the school but exciting as I know I will hear many great things about these students in the years to come! Our visit today to the magnificent Castletown House was a nice send-off to a very busy year. I want to wish all my 6th years the very best of luck in their exams and I have every faith that all of you will do me proud!

LCA 1 Exhibition

I was delighted this year to have an absolutely fantastic group of LCA students. For their Task, each student created a poster about themselves, framed it and then hosted a cheese and wine exhibition in the school. Well done to all -  I am so proud of all the hard work and creativity that went into these fabulous pieces. Take a look below at the pictures from our exhibition opening:
